This introduction will help prepare you for student questions, provide you with a general oral care background and introduce key vocabulary. Show what plaque is and what can happen if you don't remove it. Demonstrate that brushing alone will not remove all the plaque from tooth surfaces. Discuss and observe the different roles various teeth serve in the mouth. Demonstrate the destructive nature of plaque acid in the mouth. Illustrate how fluoride helps protect teeth against decay.
