Stages 1: 4 to 24 Months

It's never too early to start.

Did you know that once the first tooth comes in-usually between four and six months-it's time for you to start brushing your baby's teeth? That's why it's helpful to use a toothbrush with a soft, cushioned head and a handle designed to fit your adult hand. There's a lot going on at this stage. Your child's mouth is undergoing some very complex changes, as both permanent and baby teeth joust for position. All this action can make for tender gums and gaps between teeth, so it's important to brush thoroughly. Your child's dexterity is improving however, and they're brushing by themselves with better technique. Of course, they'll still need your support to make sure the habit sticks.
